Which WordPress theme is best for Beaver Builder plugin

Technically, Beaver Builder plugin can work with any WordPress theme. Unfortunately, a good number of WordPress themes have poor code and adding a page builder to the mix is a recipe for more conflicts, bugs and overall bloated setup. Also, theme stability, secure code and future updates are critical aspects.

Hence, it is very important to choose a neatly coded WordPress theme for a better working website setup with the Beaver Builder plugin.

01. Genesis Framework Theme – code intensive!

Genesis Framework theme is the best option to use with the Beaver Builder plugin, “provided” you are ready to mingle with little bit of CSS and PHP code play. You can build fast loading, stable and super custom websites with Genesis Framework child themes and Beaver Builder plugin combo.

However, if you do not want to get lost (<- developers love this ->) editing lines of CSS and PHP code – then skip this and consider either of next two options.

02. Beaver Builder Theme – simple quickstart!

If you are building small business websites which does not involve too much creatively mashed up header and footer layouts – then Beaver Builder theme is an absolute charm bundle for the Beaver Builder plugin. It is a super simple blank starter theme to take advantage of Beaver Builder plugin goodness.

However, for more control and do more things, check the next theme option.

03. Astra Theme: New and Looking Good!

Astra Theme is specifically meant for page builder users. It provides lean base framework structure for easy content and layout building using a page builder plugin. It comes from an amazing team of Ultimate Beaver plugin, so quality code is guaranteed.

04. GeneratePress Theme – getting popular & stable

GeneratePress theme is getting attention for all right reasons among Beaver Builder users. It is a stable and feature rich theme that can be easily extended via premium addons. Beaver Builder plugin works like charm with this theme.

05. WPBF: Page Builder friendly base theme

WPBF Theme (WordPress Builder Framework theme) has been specially designed with work amazingly with page builders plugin like: Beaver Builder and elementor. So, if you use either of page builder plugins – this theme can be an a good and stable base for builder creations.

Currently using Beaver Builder + Beaver Theme.

Preparing to move to GeneratePress Theme with Beaver Builder.

Before the next renewal Oct-2017 , will totally dump Beaver Builder + Theme and move to -> GeneratePress + Elementor Page Builder

    • Davinder Singh Kainth on February 8, 2017 at 7:48 am

Themes, page builders and other plugins… selecting the best one is a subjective routine. Every user has a different opinion based on their technical know-how and ‘what’ they have used to build ‘what’.

Elementor is definitely getting eyeballs with its cool UI but IMHO – Beaver is a more solid solution, specially for building client websites where stability with updates is very critical.

I would add Genesis to the mix as I love playing with code and Genesis can be tweaked in any possible direction for building custom websites.

Well feel free to do it, i find BB has still some advantages under the hood – e.g read https://pippinsplugins.com/wordpress-page-builder-plugins-critical-review/

Why are you dumping BB? Always intrested on diffrent opinions!

      Kind Regards

Yep…good collection. These are the 3 I’ve been using for the past year.

In the case of Genesis, I use the Dynamik Website Builder in conjunction with it.

I’ve been using Underscores with Beaver Builder to great success.

I love GeneratePress and use it for years; a full year in combination with BeaverBuilder and it is great with a few CSS adjustments. GP has also a very good support (and not expensive).

  8. Tom on February 8, 2017 at 6:06 pm

    Thanks for mentioning GP! 🙂

    • Davinder Singh Kainth on March 9, 2017 at 1:24 pm

I use iThemes Builder and it works great with Beaver Builder. I just started using Beaver Builder and have it on several sites. It works great.

BB theme and plugin. In combination with the new Theme Builder, what more could you wish for. I come from a more code intensive theme and loved coding. Now I see the benefits of speed with the BB combination.

    • Davinder Singh Kainth on May 8, 2017 at 6:55 pm

Yep, Beaver products helping build websites faster without the manual code play.

  11. Bruce on May 1, 2017 at 5:38 pm

I’ve been told by SEO experts I know that using Genesis with BB results in a heavy code laden theme. They suggest it’s far better to use BB and its theme for clean code and fast loading pages. Your thoughts in this?

    • Davinder Singh Kainth on May 8, 2017 at 6:57 pm

I use Genesis + Beaver plugin combo on personal projects and agency projects. I have not noticed any code heavy or slow issues as a result of this combination. Genesis and Beaver plugin , both are nicely optimized built on neat code foundation.

Do you have any quantifiable data to support the claim of Genesis + BB results in heavy code websites?

  12. Duncan on May 1, 2017 at 8:38 pm

Generatepress theme is brilliant and the support is amazing. I focus mainly on content creation so I don’t have time to mess about getting all sweaty over coding. BB + Generatepress plus the add-ons is fast and effective. Love it!

    • Davinder Singh Kainth on May 8, 2017 at 6:58 pm

Yeah, GeneratePress theme has lot of fans. And… just discovered another fan named ‘Duncan’ 😉

  13. David Vongries on May 8, 2017 at 5:46 pm

    Great post Davinder,

I asked myself the same question some time ago and couldn’t make a choice.

That’s why I’ve created The WordPress Page Builder Framework. Using it for my DIY networks with bb too. https://wp-pagebuilderframework.com

    • Davinder Singh Kainth on May 8, 2017 at 6:59 pm

      This is cool David.
I am sure lot of users will find your theme a useful foundation for their Beaver creations.

    Thanks for listing Astra 🙂

  15. Ben Sisson on October 3, 2017 at 6:18 pm

Great post! Just wondering what your thoughts are on Thrive Architect and if you think it can compete with any of the other page builders? I’ve been experimenting with it on the Astra theme (which I love) and it seems to work quite well.

  16. KaylaRose on February 27, 2019 at 9:13 am

I just purchased Beaver Builder Upgrade and I’m trying to navigate my way through learning GeneratePress Lite with it and I’m having trouble on deciding to upgrade my GeneratePress or choose somemthing better?

    • Davinder Singh Kainth on March 5, 2019 at 5:23 pm

Also, try the Astra free theme.
Then decide if you like working with GeneratePress or Astra and buy the PRO version of that theme.

  17. Tuan Phan on April 30, 2019 at 5:17 am

I used BB Theme, OceanWP, Astra. And now is GeneratePress for all sites. Good support, flexible and fast.
